Carlton coach to speak at GMAA conference

malthouseAFL coach Mick Malthouse will be the special guest speaker at a pre-conference dinner for the 2014 GMAA National Conference in Melbourne next month.

Mr Malthouse, who was appointed a La Trobe Vice Chancellor Fellow in 2012, will speak at the
Blue Diamond Club on Thursday, July 3 from 7pm.

In his role at La Trobe, Mr Malthouse works with staff and students as a leader and mentor.

He also leads the development of sport at the university with programs to support academic courses such as sports journalism, sports management and physiotherapy podiatry.

Mr Malthouse is just one of the top ranking speakers at this year’s conference, which will officially commence  on Friday, July 4.

This year’s theme is ‘Leadership Challenges’ and presentations will include:

  • A keynote address from Craig Dent, CEO of State Trustees – ‘Authentic Leadership: Are you courageous enough to be yourself?’
  • Professor Jon Billsberry, Deakin Business School – ‘Performance from Performances: A new approach to leadership development’
  • Professor Russell Hoye, Director La Trobe Sport – ‘Leadership challenges in the sports world’
  • Jon Manning, Founder of PricingProphets.com/Sans-Prix.com – ‘Pricing leadership’
  • Venture capitalist and MBA Chris Gollis  – ‘Practical Emotional Intelligence – The Secret of Leadership’

The conference will conclude with a panel discussion with the speakers taking questions from the audience.

The GMAA Conference provides Australia’s current and future industry leaders as well as business school academics the forum for sharing their knowledge and ideas that will shape Australia’s future leaders.

The conference will be held at the La Trobe Business School, Level 20, 360 Collins Street, Melbourne on July 4 from 9.30am to 5pm.
