Darren Glass back to business with UWA MBA

Darren-glass Recently retired West Coast Eagles Captain Darren Glass has announced he will study a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at The University of Western Australia Business School next year.

Glass, who retired from the AFL in June citing ongoing injury problems, will be one of the inaugural students enrolled in the UWA Business School’s new MBA Full Time.

The UWA MBA, says Glass, will build on his existing leadership skills and business knowledge to help him make the transition into senior leadership and business roles.

“I really love football but time away from the game is also healthy. Enrolling in the MBA Full Time will allow me to further develop my management skills,” Glass said.

“I can study intensively for 12 months, complete a tailored Leadership Development Program, and learn from WA’s top business leaders.

“It’s the best preparation I could possibly have for a transition into coaching or other executive roles—in AFL or another industry. I am really excited to have been accepted into this course and can’t wait to start studying next year.”

Dean of the UWA Business School, Winthrop Professor Phil Dolan, said the School was pleased to have high quality students such as Glass enrolling in the new MBA program.

“The MBA Full Time will be offered for the first time in 2015. We have set the entry requirements to the MBA Full Time at a very high level, and as a result the inaugural cohort is looking very strong,” Winthrop Professor Dolan said.

Darren Glass played 270 AFL games and was Captain of the West Coast Eagles from 2008 – 2014. He holds a degree in Marketing and Finance.
