Torrens University MBA

The Torrens University MBA is offered through Torrens University, and takes the form of a 1.5 years (one year accelerated) MBA and a two-year MBA (Advanced).

The Torrens MBA is available online or on campus in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, with the opportunity to accelerate your studies and graduate in one year. This provides a choice for students to undertake their study fully on-campus, online, or hybrid (a mix of online and on-campus) to best fit in studying with their lifestyle and work commitments.

The Torrens University MBA is available online or on campus in Adelaide or The Rocks in Sydney.

Torrens University MBA Program Structure

The flagship Master of Business Administration (MBA) course is designed to provide experienced business professionals with flexible study options to enhance their knowledge and skills and also enhance their career prospects. The MBA (Advanced) is designed specifically for international students and those who wish to complete a two-year program studied full-time. The MBA (Advanced) is an elongated MBA program that provides students with an advanced body of knowledge to the changing business environments in which they aspire to work and manage.

The MBA comprises eight core courses and four elective course (48 units in total). The core units include:

  • Business Decisions Analytics
  • Marketing
  • Financial Management
  • Management, People and Teams
  • Strategic Management
  • Systems Thinking
  • Business Capstone

Electives are available across a range of different subjects.

With prior approval, courses from other Torrens University Australia postgraduate programs may be included in the elective component of the degree.

It is expected that each course, whether studied online or on-campus, will involve a combined total of 120 hours of structured learning and self-directed learning:

  • 10 hours a week for on-campus courses over 12 week trimesters
  • 7.5 hours a week for online courses over 16 week trimesters
  • 15 hours a week for online courses over 8 week terms

Torrens operates on a trimester system and has three intakes a year in February, May and September.

Torrens MBA Entry Requirements

To be considered for a place in the MBA, applicants must have a Cognate Bachelor Degree (AQF7) or above in any discipline from an Australian institution or a recognised equivalent qualification and three years of relevant work experience.

Alternatively, applicants can have a Graduate Certificate of Business Administration from Torrens University Australia, or from another institution if deemed equivalent.

To gain entry into courses at Torrens University Australia, domestic and international applicants must satisfy the University’s English Language Requirements.

International students interested in studying an MBA at Torrens will be considered on an individual basis, but must satisfy International English Language Testing System (IELTS) requirements. Torrens offers language pathways for international students through their partnership with the Intensive English Language Institute (IELI) as well as their in-house English courses available on their Sydney campuses.
