The QUT MBA is taught at dedicated, modern facilities at the picturesque Gardens Point campus in the Brisbane CBD. The School has established a partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and QUT’s MBA programs are recognised by The CEO Institute as the first to meet the academic standard for certification as a Certified CEO (CCEO).

The QUT MBA can be completed in 1.5 years full-time or 3 years part-time.

QUT MBA Course Structure

QUT offers a flagship MBA as well as an Executive MBA (EMBA) and Doctor of Business Administration (DBA).

The MBA course is built on four separate components, starting with introductory, foundational units and finishing with two units focused on real-world applications of learning. Each MBA unit of six credit points is delivered in a seven-week module (six weeks teaching with final assessment in week seven). The degree can be completed in 1.5 years full-time or 3 year part-time equivalent.

The four components provide students with an integrated and multi disciplinary curriculum to equip you to take on the challenges and opportunities of a complex business environment.

  • Integrated Workplace Project

The final component of the MBA program is made up of one capstone unit which provides you with the opportunity to apply what you have learned in the program to real opportunities in a new venture or within an organisation.

The EMBA is structured to balance study with minimal interference to business commitments and will assist you to maintain career momentum.  The course is delivered in intensive weekend class sessions held from Friday to Sunday once every four weeks for 22 months with each unit of the program providing 18 hours face-to-face lecturer contact.

Participants will undertake 24 units or study as part of an integrated program combining the core components of an MBA program with more advanced units focusing on international business, creativity, negotiation skills, issues management, strategy, self-development and leadership. The EMBA program has been designed to deliver specific learning outcomes which were constructed with input from the Business Council of Australia, CPA Australia and the accreditation body AMBA. The EMBA also includes a study tour to China with site visits, lectures and cultural experiences.

Commencing Semesters

The QUT MBA program is delivered in March and September each year.

Entry Requirements

To be considered for admission into the MBA program, applicants must:

  • A completed recognised bachelor degree in any discipline with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 4.5 (on QUT’s 7-point scale); and
  • A minimum 3 years full-time post degree work experience with minimum of 2 years relevant professional work experience and 1 year minimum supervisory/management experience; and
  • Submit two completed referee report forms

Admission to the EMBA program is based on relevant work experience, prior academic studies and management aptitude. For entry into the EMBA program, you will need to:

  • have a minimum of five years’ full-time managerial experience (10 years if no degree qualification)
  • demonstrate clear potential for success in graduate study in business by:
    • attending an interview with the EMBA Director
    • providing two references, one of which is from your current employer
