New Head For University of Wollongong Business Faculty

The University of Wollongong (UOW) has appointed Professor Charles Areni as Executive Dean, Faculty of Business.

Professor Areni will be joining UOW from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management, where he held the position of Interim Dean and Professor of Management (Marketing).

UOW Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paul Wellings, CBE said Professor Areni’s experience and expertise in the growing fields of branding and retail design as well as marketing communications and consumer behaviour will bring a fresh perspective to the Faculty of Business.

“We are delighted to welcome Professor Areni to the University of Wollongong,” Professor Wellings said.

“Professor Areni’s industry experience across a broad range of clients coupled with his time spent as an academic will make him a great asset to UOW.”

Professor Areni has previously held the role of Associate Dean and Chair of the Marketing Department at the University of Sydney and has more than 30 years of teaching experience across universities in Australia and the USA.

Professor Areni has also consulted to clients including the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Woolworths, the Australasian Performing Rights Association and the Houston Astros Major League Baseball team. He has been an expert witness in several international federal trademark and intellectual property cases and served on the editorial review boards of several scholarly journals, including the Journal of Business Research and the Journal of Advertising.
