Out of 250 business school around the world, AGSM @ UNSW Business School ranked 45th for employability and research excellence on the QS Global 250 Business Schools 2017 Report.

The Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) at the University of new South Wales Business School has had a strong start in 2017 after securing a top 50 ranking on the latest QS Global 250 Business Schools 2017 Report.

Out of 250 business schools across 36 countries, AGSM ranked 45th in the report’s Global Elite quadrant.

The report’s Global Elite quadrant, ranked schools for both employability and research excellence.

There are three other ‘QS Magic MBA Quadrants’ which combine to become a brand newway of ranking business schools in 2017 – a process that had not been changed since 1995.

The full list of ranking quadrants includes:

  • Global Elite: Top-rated for both employability and research excellence
  • Top-Tier Employability: Top-rated for employability only
  • Top-Tier Research: Top-rated for research excellence only
  • Superior: Above our threshold level for both employability and research excellence

Quadrants are determined with data compiled from two surveys that were taken by 12,125
actively hiring international MBA recruiters and 76,798 academics, of which 8,376 are experts in the fields of business and management. Both surveys were reportedly compiled over five years to achieve the results that went into the 2017 report.

Director AGSM and Deputy Dean UNSW Business School Professor Julie Cogin said the result reflects the ongoing excellent performance of AGSM’s alumni community.

“Global employability and mobility of our MBA graduates has been a priority over the last few years and we have taken stock to ensure we provide not only an academically rigorous program, but world-class graduates who are part of a strong global network.

“This result is very encouraging and demonstrates that despite the competitive market in which we operate, the reputation and relevance of our full-time program remains very strong internationally,” she said.

Since the early 1990s QS has produced a list of top global business schools for full-time MBA study.

Comprehensive results and the survey methodology may be found in the QS Global 250 Business Schools report at Top MBA.

AGSM ranked amongst top business schools in North America and Europe, who made up around 85% of the Global Elite category.

The Top-Tier Employability quadrant was almost two-thirds comprised of institutions based in the US or Canada, with most of the rest from Europe. The Asia-Pacific region appeared to dominate the Top-Tier Research quadrant, accounting for 80% of institutions in this category.
