This double degree combines the specialist finance knowledge necessary for success in the finance industry with the knowledge of essential techniques of management necessary to create value in the world of business and meet the priorities of government organisations.

The MFA program facilitates entry into a wide range of challenging and rewarding careers in the finance sector as well as providing a pathway to several widely recognised designations of professional excellence within the investment industry while the MBA prepares graduates to tackle problems creatively in order to achieve optimum results for the organisation.

La Trobe University Master of Financial Analysis/Business Administration (MBA) Course Structure

The La Trobe MBA comprises of:

  • 20 subjects (12 core and eight elective) each worth 15 credit points (300 credit point total).

Additionally, there are two core professional experiences:

  • E-Portfolio (24 hour time requirement) and
  • Boardroom Simulation (24 hour time requirement).

You must complete the two core professional experiences to fulfil the degree requirements. However, they are not credit-bearing, nor fee-bearing.

The program adopts a practical, industry-focused approach for professionals seeking to accelerate their careers. Taught by highly qualified teaching staff with industry experience, you’ll graduate with the necessary finance, leadership and management skills to excel in a rapidly changing business environment.

Our subjects draw on a range of industry partnerships, placing a strong emphasis on enterprise learning. You’ll study with like-minded professionals who have at least three years’ management experience. The program is a highly flexible course that offers full-time and part-time options, block mode intensives and evening, weekend or online classes. The program is delivered at the following locations; City Campus and Bundoora.

Accreditation

The Master of Business Administration has EPAS (EFMD Programme Accreditation System) accreditation from the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).

Entry Requirements

Prerequisites

  • Academic level – Australian Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
  • Required grade average – A weighted average mean (WAM) of 60% or above at third-year level.
  • Work experience (Compulsory) – Three years relevant managerial experience.

Alternate entry

Applicants with more than eight years’ relevant managerial experience but without an undergraduate degree may be considered for professional entry.
